Lee Kum Kee “ My Fun Cooking 2017 ” competition held at One Space @ The Square, One City
This Lee Kum Kee “ My Fun Cooking 2017 ” organized by Lee Kum Kee and Desa Home, officially kicked off with the first round of the competition held at One Space @ The Square, One City on last Sunday.
There are four family teams gathered together to showcase their cooking talents. The team mostly from mother-and-daughter or mother-and-son. This competition is staged for the purposes of encouraging young children in Malaysia to explore their inner cooking talents and enjoy joyous cooking moments with their family members.
There are some rules to be followed by the participant for this cooking competition.
* Each team consists of two members, one member must be a child (aged between 10-18 years old) and a parent/guardian.
* Contestants are given a fixed budget and the child is responsible for purchasing the cooking ingredients from SKM Market, one of the event sponsors.
* Contestants are required to cook a main dish within 1 hour and based on a designated theme using Lee Kum Kee sauces.
* Contestants have to cook the dish based on Theme provided by the organizer.
For Round 1, Chicken would be the main ingredient.
(I would say this is really interesting part when the organizer only informed the contestants the cooking theme on that day itself, which mean the contestants won’t have time to prepare in early)
* The judges will select one winner each round from round 1 to round 3. The winners from round 1 to 3 will than take part in the finale round 4 to win the championship.
Renowned for the invention of oyster sauce and a diverse range of top quality Chinese sauces and condiments, Lee Kum Kee is committed to promoting Chinese cuisines worldwide and nurturing future culinary talents. To further promote this mission in Malaysia, a total of four rounds of “ My Fun Cooking 2017 ” would take place at One Space @ The Square, One City from 15 October to 12 November 2017. Twelve teams would compete for getting into the Final Round. Each winning team from the first three rounds would proceed to compete with the celebrity, Mr. Peter Davis in the finale round that held on 12 November later.
I found this is very fun cooking competition where the children need to co-operate with their mom, help to prepare the foods ingredients and decorate the dish, contestants need to build a good connection and teamwork with their Child partner in order to getting done of their dish.
Besides, My Fun Cooking 2017 allows them to cultivate a tacit understanding between each other.
Doesn't matter if you have missed out the first round of this cooking competition.
There are still 3round of different theme cooking competition coming soon on the following weekend.

We can see the contestants are busy preparing and cutting their food ingredients before start to cook. (All the foods ingredients bought from SKM Market, one of the sponsor for this My Fun cooking competition)
The four team able to finish their dishes on time and lets the judges taste them in front of the camera and audience.
All electrical appliances used during the event are sponsored by

The Winner for this 1st round will bring home this Electrolux Microwave Oven and Lee Kum Kee hamper.
Also, all contestants will be
awarded gift items as well.

There are four main judges from the organizer and sponsor.
Namely from left to right [ Chef Chan Ki Hong (represented Lee Kum Kee), Mr Teoh Eng Poh (represented OneSpace), Mr Edward Phang (represented SKM market) and Mr Fong Chee Hoon (represented Electrolux) ]

All the Judges has taste carefully for each dishes and give their comments to the contestants.
Overall they are satisfy with the taste of the dishes that cooked by the four team just some dishes will need to have some improvement about the timing and heat control to maintain well the tenderness of the chicken and veges.
Come to the time for the Emcee to announce the winner team when the Judges has passed her the result after the foods tasting.
