“SUPERMOM” Mother’s Day Contest ~ The Mines shopping mall

 

In conjunction with Mother’s Day, The Mines shopping mall (The Mines) is organizing the inaugural iconic event “SUPERMOM” Mother’s Day Contest on 19 May 2018, 2pm to 6pm, at Level 3, West Court with the objectives of providing a fun and interactive session for the moms and their kid whilst instill the importance of housework sharing among the kids.

* The Mines * is a shopping mall located within the Klang area. Its major attraction is its anchor tenant, Giant supermarket.

I have joined this mother day hunt event about last Saturday.

The event detail:

Title: “SUPERMOM” Mother’s Day Contest

Date: 19.05.18

Time: 1.30pm to 5.30pm

Venue: The Mines

(meeting point: 3^rd floor west wing, in front of TGV cinema concourse area)

(Contestant request to bring along 1 kid to participate together in the hunt)

 

A total of 10 pairs moms and children are participating in the contest, challenging their skills and speed of completing the assigned daily housework tasks such as cooking, crafting, sport, shopping, and health and beauty knowledge. The best mom will be crowned the “Supermom” and walk away with attractive prizes.

The contest is jointly organized by the mall and its retail partners of Oliver Gourmet, Beauty Secret, Fun Factory, Giant, Mr. DIY, Natural Health Farm and Starbucks. It was divided into 6 main sections – Meal Preparation skills, Crafting skills, Sport Challenge, Shopping Hunt, and Health & Beauty related knowledge which will be held at different retail partner’s shop.

Participants need to go through 5 stage of games in order to win in this mother day hunt.

The 5 stage of games are as below: ~

1. Prepare lovely foods for mom (Oliver Gourmet) 

2. Health & Beauty related knowledge Q & A section (Natural Health Farm (NHF))

3. Roller skating (Fun Factory)

4. DIY handcraft/artwork design (Mr DIY store) 

5. Grocery challenge/Shopping Hunt (Giant Hypermarket)

We all gather in the meeting point which at the stage that setup in front of the TGV cinema in west wing and the Emcee given speech and kick start the event on 2pm.

The contest starts with the Meal Preparation section at Oliver Gourmet (Level 3, East Court) where the contestants are required to prepare simple meal using the ingredients provided by Oliver Gourmet. The r esults will be judged based on the criteria of teamwork, time and food presentation.

We allocated follow by number from 1 to 10 group number.

There are many ingredients that has been prepared in the big table by the organizer.

We need to choose the ingredients and use own ideas to prepare one simple and nice meal and given 1 hour time to finish it.

 

 

 

 

 

  

 

 

 

 

 

 

   

Here show all the foods prepared by all the participants, look nice and delicious as I believe all also have putting their hard work and loves to prepare the dishes.

This is my dish and let me explain a bit, I do a heart shape bread in the middle and look like mom’s lovely face and mix below with big croissant like Mom’s big heart and decorate with grapes and banana is mean sweetness received from mom and also design with tomato symbolize sunshine from mom.

The Judges come to give marks to the dishes base on the creativity of the foods.

The Judges will gather all the marks that given from each stage of the games and announce the winner on later.

Second game will be Q&A section that held at the Natural Health Farm (NHF).

This will be the bonus stage at Natural Health Farm (Level 3, East Court) whereby the contestants need to answer 10 simple health and product related questions including searching for certain products in the Natural Health Farm store. The fastest team who answered correctly for each question will be rewarded with bonus points.

This Natural Health Farm (NHF) organic shop is owned by Dr Jessie Chung.

You can find many healthy supplement, organic foods and skincare here.

Moreover, you can see many music album and book from Dr Jessie Chung display on the rack as well.  

Participants need to raise their hand quickly and get picked by the judges to answer the question in order to win the points.

I so happy as I able to answer one question correctly and gain marks in this Q&A section. ^_^

The next station is the Sport Challenge section, at Fun Factory (Level 4, North Court). The moms are required to complete the roller skating track with their kid in their fastest time. They will be taught of the basic roller skating skills by the professional instructor from Fun Factory prior to the contest. The results will be judged based on time and teamwork.

This fun factory has some small table and coloring tools prepare for the kids and also a spaces for roller skating.

We being lead to the fun factory register counter to choose our skates shoes and take the hand and leg protector for our kids.

The rule of this game is the kids need to wear the roller skate and with mother help from holding the hand and the back to move to the finish line.

Only the top 3 faster will win the points in this game.

 

I found this is not easy to play as me and many of the parent and their kids there also a first timer and this need to be practice more before play it.

Anyway, this is really interesting game for both mother and kids as need to be team work and be faster to cross the finish line in order to win.

We follow the tour to Mr DIY store (Level 4, North Court), and start the four game called DIY crafting/artwork design.

Where the moms need to work with their kid to create a string-art masterpiece. The kid need to sketch a Mother’s Day related artwork on a piece of paper under guidance and suggestion provided by the mom and thereafter the completed artwork will be transformed by the mom onto the given wooden board using strings & nails. The results will be judged based on the criteria of time, neatness, creativity and teamwork.

 

 

 

 

 

We need to use own ideas to design a masterpiece with the tools provided by Mr DIY.

 

The final station is the Shopping Hunt at Giant Hypermarket whereby the contestants will be given a list of grocery items that they need to search and collect all these items into their trolley in Giant Hypermarket within the given time. The results will be judged based on number of collected items and teamwork.

 

We only given 5 minutes to collect all the items as much as we can that stated in the listing. 

Emcee shouted One , two, Three, go..... 

After completed all the sections, the marks accumulated from all the contest sections will be summed up for winners’ identification. The champion of the contest will win RM500 worth of cash prize and hampers, products and cash vouchers worth over RM1,800.00 sponsored by participating tenants, while 1^st runner up and 2^nd Runner Up will win cash prizes worth RM300 and RM200 respectively and hampers, products and cash vouchers worth over RM900.00 and RM600.00 respectively. Consolations will win cash prize of RM50 with products and cash vouchers worth over RM200.00.

 

Congratulation to all the winners, you all have done a very good job in all the stage of the games.
